What is Cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity, also known as Information Technology Security, is commonly defined as the technologies, processes, and practices that are designed to protect people, networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unwanted access.
Why is Cybersecurity important?
Cybersecurity experts are like police officers, but instead of protecting homes and communities from criminals who could harm us or our physical property; Cybersecurity professionals work to protect people, networks, systems, hardware and data from digital attacks. Today, youth spend more time online than any other generation before them. No matter if it’s a cell phone, tablet, gaming system, or even a smart-tv, all are connected to the internet. This is why it’s more important than ever before to give youth the knowledge and skills needed to be safe online.
What will you learn?
Students who participate in the Brilliant Labs Cybersecurity program will learn why it’s important to protect information, passwords and your identity online. They will get the tools and skills needed to build secure systems that will protect against cyber attacks.
